Special Projects

Parenting skills training

Every two weeks, MPowering People organizes group information sharing meetings for children and their parents. During these sessions, the participants discuss:
  • Learning techniques
  • Child rearing and care
  • Basic health and hygiene
  • Child abuse and maltreatment
  • Sex education

Our aim is to provide the parents in León - often trauma sufferers themselves - the tools they will need over the coming years to support their childrens development and to create a healthy and stimulating home environment.

Winter holiday programme

We use the December and January holiday period to give our students the opportunity to develop new life skills through engagement in theatre, dance, the creative arts, music and sports.

Year round organized events

Budget permitting, we also organize sports and drama events on a regular basis throughout the year. But Mpowering People is a non-profit organization so when resources are scarce we rely on our local and international volunteers to get these projects off the ground.

>> We are always looking for enthusiastic people to help, so if you would you like to work with our children for a couple of weeks, please send an email to: MPoweringpeople@gmail.com

Music project

In March 2006, volunteer Josephine Pas started new music workshop classes for our most traumatised children.

>> We are especially looking for music and creative therapists who would like to continue Josephine's work. If you think a project like this is for you, please send an email to MPoweringpeople@gmail.com
